Heatblast #105

Atlanta…

Diego’s seventeenth floor high-rise on Peachtree Road, in Atlanta, was designed with an outdoor kitchen.
Tonight, Martina was trying hard to keep her composure.
The Task Force had every reason to believe The Network was behind Summer’s kidnapping.
At this very moment every resource they had at their disposal…was being used to find out where Summer was being held.
But, tonight despite all that was going on around her…Martina had to stick to the script.
Her inside look would be their only chance at saving Summer.
She was sitting on the spacious balcony of the penthouse suite…wearing a full length summer dress with a colorful print from, Michealangel.
The slight wind wrapped the dress around the chair she was sitting in.
Diego was grilling bacon and jalapeno wrapped colossal shrimp, as he sipped on Hennessy Private Reserve.
There was a lot going thru Martina’s mind. She wanted to put a bullet in Diego’s back and just get it over with, but they had to locate Summer before they could make any other moves.
The grilled brochettes were ready. Diego placed them in the warmer and walked over to where Martina was…looking out over the city.
He sat next to her.
She was not drinking.
Diego picked up her glass and handed it to her.
Martina took the glass and looked at him…attempting to keep a read on his mood. She had to stay a step ahead of him…if not, she just might end up like her fellow agent.
Martina still had not taken a sip of the Reserve.
Diego leaned in, as his lips pressed against hers,” What’s wrong…it seems like you’re miles away?”
She was…
“Take me with you…” He kissed her again.
Martina was hoping to conceal her thoughts…her fears. She kissed him back, hoping the affection would cloud Diego’s read on her. “I’m right here…” She put her arms around his neck. “…where I wanna be,” she said, with a smile that was far from genuine.
He ran his hand along her calf, making the long sheer dress she was wearing ride up her thigh.
Martina had been here before with Diego…over the course of this investigation. The only thing different now…Diego and The Network was now a threat to The Task Force.
She took a slight breath…allowed him to kiss her.
Diego’s lips grazed against Martina’s skin.
There was a time…she remembered…enjoying this.
Her legs were exposed.
The breeze cooled her thighs.
Diego watched Martina’s eyes. He also had a lot going on. Diego was hoping Martina did not recognize that his mind was preoccupied.
With Bryant back in Houston and Victor in Chicago…Diego was overseeing DT and his contractors, who were holding Summer.
This new thing he had with Martina was something Diego wanted to protect from his other life. He did not want to make the same mistake he had made with Giulianna.
It was important to Diego to keep business separate from his personal life, this time.
He kissed her on the chin. “It’s like I’ve been waiting my entire life to meet you,” he said.
She looked at him. Martina had a lot she wanted to say, but chose not to say nothing at all.
Diego’s phone saved her…the awkward moment.
He looked at the screen and then her. He could tell she had something she wanted to say. “Hold that thought,” he said.
“I’ll be here,” she said, as she laid back and took in the view.
Diego walked inside to take the call.
“Is she situated?” he asked.
“Yes,” the man answered.
“Is she comfortable?’ Diego asked.
“We have her at…our place,” the man answered. “She couldn’t be better if she was on vacation.”
Every word of the intercepted call was being dissected by The Task Force’s team of experts.
They were running out of time…it was only three hours left until the deadline for the ransom drop.
And, DT and his contractors…had no intentions on making the drop.
