All About You

Khalila…an excerpt from the upcoming short story collection…All About Her…by Tim Heat

Houston…tonight she was trying out a new recipe for her husband and kids.
It was a seafood pasta with a cream cheese sauce.
She really needed to get this right on the first try.
She had to be at the gym in an hour. She had missed workouts before, but not tonight.
Yeah…she loved her husband and wanted to always do what it took to preserve her family, but it was getting unbearable.
It wasn’t anything he was doing wrong…it was her.
She needed to be freed…every now and then.
Tonight, that freedom was coming.
He had been gone out of her life for over a decade.
But, now he was back in the city.
They had met at club one night.
She was cute…thick…peanut butter skin tone, with a head on her shoulders.
His type.
They dated…had a blast.
He went away.
They kept in touch…better than he expected her too.
She had always said, he could get it no matter what.
Tonight…a marriage…two kids and an established career later…she was going there with him.
Risking it all…wrapped in a moment of prohibited passion.
The pasta was perfect.
They probably would not even notice she used the health conscious choice of wheat pasta.
Everything was done.
Her husband and the kids would have to survive making their own plates.
After all this time…he was looking forward to seeing her, but he respected how well she had done for herself.
Khalila had been an extraordinary lover back then…now, she was an extraordinary friend.
Even though he was debating within…about whether this was a good idea, it was too late for that.
Everything had been planned out and put into motion.
The Marriot Downtown Houston provided stunning views of the city.
The room was on the west side of the building overlooking the Houston Galleria.
He was already there waiting on her.
It was not much to the room…a bed, flat screen, tables, chairs…the normal hotel stuff.
The housekeeper had opened the curtains.
He was sitting in the chair facing the door…in front of the huge windows.
The only light was over the entrance to the room.
The sun had disappeared from the city’s sight.
The seventeenth story view added a subtle backdrop to the room.
There was a key left at the front desk for her.
She got there around eight.
He heard the locks turn on the door.
He was ready.
When she opened the door…she couldn’t see him sitting in the dark.
“Baby…” She knew he was there. She looked for the light switch.
“Don’t worry about the light.”
Hearing his voice…in person, after all these years was like rewinding the hands of time.
She felt butterflies.
He missed her too.
She started to walk towards him.
“Wait…” he said. “I got this thing I been thinking about.”
Khalila was standing in the entrance…under a directional lamp. It was like she was on a stage.
“Take off your clothes.”
After all this time…he was still on some different shit, she thought to herself.
She looked in his direction…barely able to see him, as he sat in the darkest part of the room.
What he had on his mind…tonight…Khalila wanted a double shot of whatever it was.
She started to get undressed…
